Fiddlehead Campground began in 1999 and now has 200+ canoe-in or drive-in primitive sites on and between 11 beaches along 3 miles of the Saco River in western Maine. “Primitive” means you get a large site with a picnic table and a nearby privy, to go with the great scenery and that “away from it all” feeling. You carry in your water and other supplies. The Nature Conservancy has identified some sensitive areas that support rare plant species. Please do not trample in these marked areas. We expect campers to keep their camping areas neat; we will take away garbage that is neatly wrapped in garbage bags and placed away from the river so as to not detract from the view. We have expanded our drive-in camping as more folks have discovered the convenience of driving in to camp, taking a river trip the next day, then camping with us again that night. Our week-end clients tend toward the younger, party-on-the-beach crowd. From Sunday to Thursday, the Saco River is much quieter – an ideal time for family camping. Regardless of your camping goals, we want to preserve the untrammeled look and feel of Fiddlehead, so you will want to return again and again.

Recommendations from satisfied customers include..
… timely, thorough, neat, excellent with color suggestions, professional from start to finish. – Mary T., Brownfield
We met Henry in 2004 when he was hired by our contractor to stain the walls and ceiling of our new sun porch. We soon realized how meticulous and flawless Henry’s work is. When the job was done the nail holes were invisible and his finishing touches were ideal. We’ve since hired him to paint every room in our house. We are extremely satisfied with his work and there’s no one else we would hire. Henry is a reliable, honest and trustworthy person who we also refer to as ‘our friend.’ – Mark & Suzette G., Fryeburg
I first hired Henry Foster because everyone said he was the Cadillac of painters, I continue to hire Henry to do all my projects because Henry Foster ‘is’ the “Cadillac of Painters” at a fair price. – Andrew C., Fryeburg
If Henry is not a perfectionist, then he is a man who is dedicated to the simple principal that pride in one’s work, in turn, earns the trust and respect of the client. I trust and respect – and therefore would recommend Henry Foster to anyone. – Dean W., Eaton , NH
Henry Foster did a superb job on re-staining and painting our vacation home on Lower Kimball Pond. We had not had it done for over 10y and much was needed. Henry did a superb job in not only his painting/staining, with the 2 coats done with care and obvious skill, but also identifying the needed carpentry repair and putting us in contact with a very capable local carpenter to get the entire job done on time. I highly recommend Henry! – Josh G., Fryeburg , ME
Henry Foster recently completed a painting job on our camp at Kezar Lake . We needed work done on the interior, exterior and decking. Not only did he complete the job on time, on budget and with the highest level of quality workmanship, he proactively brought things to my attention that needed addressing to ensure the our camp remained in tip top shape for years to come. Working with Henry was a pleasure and I highly recommend him. Steve H., Lovell , ME

While the horse’s stalls now stand empty, we’ve preserved Hardy Farm’s heritage by retaining much of its original charm while updating amenities to today’s contemporary standards of comfort and luxury.

Harvest Hills Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization which contracts with eighteen towns in Western Maine to accept neglected , stray and abandoned cats and dogs. These animals are brought in by the towns’ animal control officers. When space is available, Harvest Hills also accepts owner surrendered animals from all surrounding communities in Maine and New Hampshire and will assist other shelters by providing a safe place for adoptable animals that would otherwise be euthanized, or did not fit another shelters admission policies.
Since opening its doors in 1992, Harvest Hills has found loving homes for approximately 17,000 dogs and cats. As we have grown in recent years, we strive to serve more animals in need, reduce stress and suffering for every animal passing through our doors and provide individual attention, medical and custodial care to our charges. We also consider it an important part of our mission to educate the community, adults and children about the responsibilities of pet ownership and the benefits of adopting a Harvest Hills animal.
Harvest Hills has taken great care to avoid euthanasia whenever possible. Every animal goes through a socialization program and is evaluated so we may match them with their new family. This process helps with the transition of shelter life to a new home for both the animal and its new owners.
