Interlocking business & community in Fryeburg, Maine!

GUEST SPEAKER FROM HOLLIS TO SPEAK ON TIF AT FBA MEETING

Fryeburg Business Association will be holding their membership meeting this WednesdaySeptember 20th at 6PM at the American Legion on Bradley Street.

Following a brief association business update by the FBA  board the floor will be open to an informational discussion on Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for Fryeburg. This is a very complicated, yet extremely important subject for any community and there is a lot of misinformation spreading throughout town that simply adds to the confusion. Sometimes the best insight comes from a community that has already experienced the process. For that reason FBA  reached out to Hollis and invited Dana Gray, a resident, business owner, and former chairman of the long range planning committee of Hollis, to come share with the residents and businesses of Fryeburg.

Besides being Past Chairman of the Hollis Long Range Planning Committee, Dana also is a  Past Chairman of Hollis Budget Committee, and Past Chairman of the Hollis Planning Board (20 plus years) so he brings much experience and knowledge to the discussion.

Dana will join Fryeburg Town Manager, Sharon Jackson in an effort to help community residents and businesses better understand what a TIF is, how it works within the state, the town, the businesses and the community. All are encouraged to attend this meeting and the evening will be open to questions and answers as time allows.

The following evening, September 21st, the Town of Fryeburg will be holding a Public Hearing in the American Legion on economic development plans for the Town including the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) proposal. Meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m with a discussion to follow at approximately 7:00 p.m. on the potential sale of town-owned land between Route 5 and the Eastern Slopes Airport to Poland Spring. A public ballot vote is scheduled for October 12th. Absentee ballots are now available at the town Office.
